GMO GlobalSign Caps a Year of Expansion

For 2024, leading certificate authority focused on meeting shortened certificate lifecycles and expanding product capabilities

BOSTON, Mass., December 10, 2024 GMO GlobalSign, Inc., a global Certificate Authority (CA) and leading provider of identity security, digital signing and IoT solutions, today announced highlights for 2024. A top focus for the company included significant product updates, and expansion into new territories. In a year where there was a significant shift within the entire Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) marketplace, GMO GlobalSign made a concerted effort to bring the trend of shortening certificate lifecycle message to enterprises of all sizes to the marketplace via our products and solutions, particularly our offerings that enable businesses to automate their certificates to meet a market experiencing significant changes.

Products

ACME – We announced updates to our Automated Certificate Management Environment (ACME) service for internal domain certificates, enabling customers to issue IntranetSSL certificates through our ACME service. The upgrade unlocked a capability to –issue certificates via ACME for internal/non-public domains, such as .internal or .local, which can be used on internal networks where public trust is not required and where additional flexibility on certificate validity is desired.

Introduction of Certificate Automation Manager – GMO GlobalSign rebranded the company’s longtime certificate automation product, Automated Enrollment Gateway (AEG), to Certificate Automation Manager. Our sophisticated certificate management and automation solution is designed to be in lockstep with customers as their security and digital identity requirements evolve.

Kubernetes Issuer – The company also announced the availability of an Issuer for Kubernetes cert-manager. Built from an integration from GMO GlobalSign's certificate management platform, Atlas. Our Issuer enables cert-manager users to quickly obtain trusted TLS (X.509) certificates, improving the security of Kubernetes workflows. The integration solves the problem of Kubernetes workloads running with insecure capabilities in production environments.

PKIaaS Connector for ServiceNow updates – In addition, GMO GlobalSign announced the availability of our latest iteration of the PKIaaS Connector for ServiceNow. The updates allow ServiceNow customers to better manage their digital certificates, with more timely actions on issuance and expiration, detailed reports, as well as real-time status of key metrics.

Infosec Innovator Award for PKI

Cyber Defense Magazine named GMO GlobalSign the winner of the 2024 Top Infosec Innovator Award in the category of PKIaaS Management. Our Managed PKI offering is a pivotal solution for effective Certificate Lifecycle Management (CLM), providing a centralized platform for the seamless discovery, issuance, renewal, and revocation of digital certificates.

Document Signing

GMO GlobalSign surpassed our highest ever issuance of certificates via our high-volume certificate authority Digital Signing Services platform. In addition, for the first time, more than 2 million certificates (2.3 million to be exact) were issued in a single month (October). In total, our customers completed nearly 50 million digital signings this year, surpassing the 2023 figure of 45 million.

Mexico Expansion

In July we announced the expansion of a partnership with longtime partner, Seguridad America, enabling GMO GlobalSign products and services to be sold to businesses in Mexico. Through the arrangement, Seguridad America is responsible for selling GMO GlobalSign's entire Public Key Infrastructure (PKI)-based product line to Mexican businesses, ensuring that companies in this region are interacting with experienced cybersecurity professionals that understand the intricacies and complexities of PKI.

Other highlights of 2024

G-Cloud Renewal – GMO GlobalSign’s supplier status with Crown Commercial Service's G-Cloud was renewed, enabling us to continue selling our PKI solutions to public sector companies in the United Kingdom.

Authorized to Sell Digital Signatures in Ecuador – GMO GlobalSign also became authorized to sell digital signatures and SSL/TLS certificates to businesses in Ecuador via regional enterprise partner, Alpha Technologies.

TX Ramp Level 2 Certification – GMO GlobalSign achieved a Level 2 Certification from TX Ramp, the state of Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR) program that brings technology solutions to state agencies, institutions of higher education and public community colleges.

“This year has been quite impactful for the Certificate Authority industry. Not only have there been calls for further reduction in certificate lifecycles, NIST’s approval of new algorithms will be the basis for the eventual transition to Post Quantum Cryptography-ready certificates, which will have a long-term impact for us,” said Lila Kee, General Manager of the Americas, and Chief Product Officer for GMO GlobalSign. “At GMO GlobalSign, we worked diligently to provide the industry’s best products to help organizations manage their PKI in a way that is more intelligent and hopefully less stressful. And of course, it was wonderful to cap off the year with an award for the best PKIaaS Management offering in the marketplace! We look forward to doing it all again next year as we face new opportunities but also enable our customers to overcome existing and new threats via our PKI solutions.”
